Cruises from Galveston, planned close to home
Longer trips and back-to-back sailings from the port about half of Texas can drive to. Tell me what you want, and I'll put the whole trip in writing, with every fee spelled out.
Galveston departures
What I help with
I plan cruises that leave from Galveston. The best trips give you more time at sea and less fuss getting there.
Longer sailings
Most Galveston cruises run 4 to 8 nights. Some run 10 to 14 nights on select dates. I find the ones that fit your calendar.
Back-to-back trips
Two cruises on the same ship, one right after the other. You get two weeks and unpack once. I line up the dates and the cabin.
Papers and planning
Passports, birth certificates, and travel insurance choices. I send you a plain-words checklist so nothing gets missed.
Getting there
Most guests drive. If you'd rather fly, I can book flights and a hotel the night before. I request accessible cabins and special diets early, since space is limited.
How I work
- 1
Tell me your trip
Call, text, email, or use the form below, whichever is easier. Tell me when you want to go, who's going, and what matters most.
- 2
Get a written quote
I send two or three choices with the full price, taxes, fees, and payment dates. No surprises later.
- 3
You decide
Take your time. If you book, I track the dates, remind you about payments, and watch for price drops before final payment.
How I use AI
I use an AI assistant, powered by Claude, to help draft quotes and answers. I review everything before it reaches you.
- It compares Galveston sailings and checks fares in my booking tools every day.
- It drafts your written quote and keeps track of your payment dates.
- It always says it's an AI, and it never asks for card, passport, or Social Security numbers.
Why sail from Galveston
- About half of all Texans live within a four-hour drive of the Galveston cruise port.
- Driving in means no airport lines and no bag fees. Pack what fits in the trunk.
- Ships leave Galveston all year. Most trips go to Mexico, Belize, Honduras, and Jamaica.
- Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30. Ships change course for storms, so travel insurance matters.
Hi, I'm Josh
I plan cruises out of Galveston for Texans, from the Hill Country to Houston and beyond. I like the longer trips best, the ones where you finally slow down.
I'm an Independent Seller of Travel. That gives me access to the major cruise lines, plus flights and hotels when you need them.
I use AI so I can answer quickly and keep every detail straight. I still read every quote before it goes out, and I'm a phone call away whenever you'd rather talk.
Common questions
Do you charge a fee?
No. I don't charge a planning fee. The cruise line pays me a commission when you book, so you pay the cruise fare and nothing extra to me.
Will I pay more than booking with the cruise line?
In most cases your fare is the same as booking with the line yourself. Every quote shows the full price, so you can compare.
Who answers my questions?
I do. My AI assistant, powered by Claude from Anthropic, helps draft answers and quotes, and I read and approve each one before it goes to you. The assistant always tells you it's an AI. Call, text, or email, whichever you prefer: (830) 313-9012 or josh@hillcountrycruises.com.
What does the AI see?
Your trip details: dates, number of travelers, trip length, and your notes. I don't send your phone number, email, or last name to the AI. Please never send card, passport, or Social Security numbers. The cruise line collects payment directly.
Can you book flights too?
Yes. Most guests drive to Galveston, but I can book flights into Houston and a hotel the night before your cruise.
Do I need a passport?
A passport is best. On a cruise that starts and ends in Galveston, U.S. citizens may use a birth certificate plus a photo ID. A passport lets you fly home from a foreign port if you must.
Does Medicare cover me on a cruise?
Medicare pays for very little care at sea. It may help only when the ship is in, or within 6 hours of, a U.S. port. Ask your Medigap plan what it covers abroad. Then look at travel insurance.
What is a back-to-back cruise?
You book two cruises on the same ship, one after the other. The first trip ends in Galveston and the next one starts there the same day. Your bags stay put. I keep track of both sets of payment dates and help you pick one insurance policy that covers both weeks.
Is the drink or dining package worth it?
It depends on how much you drink and eat. My free package calculator shows how many drinks or meals it takes to break even, using your cruise line's current prices.
